Israel Adesanya KO’s Costa, retains middleweight title

Israel Adesanya defeated Paulo Costa in UFC 253’s main event that took place this night at “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.

Adesanya KO’d his adversary in the second round which marked his second consecutive successful middleweight title defense.

The Nigerian fighter was the dominant force right from the get-go, as it seemed at times Adesanya is two moves ahead of the Brazilian challenger.

Once again Adesanya showcased his impeccable kickboxing skills, as he was landing from all kinds of angles and distance. Costa’s defense wasn’t on point at all, as he got bloodied in the opening round with some heavy jabs to the face. Adesanya leg kicks were tremendous, as he was killing Costa’s left leg throughout the first two rounds.

It all came to an end at the 3:59 mark of the second round when the champion caught Costa with a multi-punch combo that dropped the challenger on the ground and after a quick mauling from Adesanya, Jason Herzog stopped the fight.

This was Costa’s first pro loss (13-1), while Adesanya is still undefeated (20-0).
