24 countries will participate in the upcoming Sambo World Championships

The capital of Armenia, the city of Yerevan, will host the World Youth, Junior and Cadets SAMBO Championships from 14 to 16 of October. It is expected that athletes from 24 countries will take part in the competitions to be held at the Karen Demirchyan Sports and Concert Complex: Armenia, Bulgaria, Colombia, Cyprus, Germany, Greece, Georgia, Israel, Iceland, Italy, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Korea, Latvia, Moldova, Mongolia, Romania, Serbia, Tajikistan, USA, Uzbekistan. In accordance with the decision of the FIAS Executive Committee, athletes from Russia, Belarus and France will compete under the flag of the International SAMBO Federation.

The general partner of the tournament is Rosneft oil company.

The World Championships will be held among cadets (born in 2006-2008), youth (born in 2004-2006) and juniors (born in 2002-2004). In the Sport SAMBO tournament, cadets will compete for the title of the strongest sambists in the world in nine weight categories, youth in eight, and juniors in seven. Juniors (male) will also compete in Combat SAMBO for the first time.

Cadets (female): 41 kg, 44 kg, 47 kg, 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, +72 kg

Cadets (male): 46 kg, 49 kg, 53 kg, 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, +88 kg

Youth (female): 47 kg, 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, + 80 kg

Youth (male): 53 kg, 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, +98 kg

Juniors (female): 50 kg, 54 kg, 59 kg, 65 kg, 72 kg, 80 kg, +80 kg

Juniors (male): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, + 98 kg

Juniors (Combat SAMBO male): 58 kg, 64 kg, 71 kg, 79 kg, 88 kg, 98 kg, + 98 kg

“For the first time in the history of the International SAMBO Federation, Combat SAMBO fights will be held among juniors. This decision was made at a meeting of the FIAS Executive Committee after numerous appeals from national federations, due to the growing popularity of Combat SAMBO around the world. Perhaps it is at this tournament that a new star will shine, which in the future will be compared in popularity with such legendary athletes as Fedor Emelyanenko and Khabib Nurmagomedov.
