A successful end of Day 1 of the KWU International Camp in Sofia

The final third session of the first day of the ongoing KWU International Professional League camp in Sofia kicked off with a warm-up for all sportsmen in pairs and individually.

The session was opened by the General Secretary of the KWU Shihan Aleksandr Pichkunov. Then the sportsmen were again divided in three different groups that were led by the K-1 legends – Peter Aerts, Ernesto Hoost, Semmy Schilt.

The coaches switched groups this time, so this way everybody could train with three of them by the end of the camp.

“The Dutch Lumberjack” put an emphasis on proper movement inside the ring when attacking proactively and reactively. In the second part of the session, he switched the topic of the third session of the day – he made the fighters work on their knockout combinations.

The 4x K-1 World Champion Semmy Schilt insisted that the fighters work in pairs and focus on their basic combinations. Then he ramped up the pace with combinations with more than 3 or 4 punches and kicks and in the end he let the fighters work in a sparring with just “light contact”.

Ernesto Mr. Perfect Hoost emphasized on the combinations that set up high kicks and knockout punches. He taught the up-and-coming sportsmen how to “open up” the game and their opponents. Hoost even showed footage of his own matches to display his methods.

The fourth master class of 2021 is taking place at “Arena Armeec” in Sofia, Bulgaria from 21-st till 23-d. The camp will produce a total of 7 training sessions throughout the next three days.
