Mihail Georgiev and Stoyan Kubatov are the holders of the "Dan Kolov" gold belts in freestyle wrestling and "Nikola Petrov" in classical wrestling at the tournament of the same name, which ended today at the "Kolodruma" hall in Plovdiv.
Both wrestlers came first in their categories and thus won the prestigious trophies for the first time. Kubatov, who triumphed in the 77-kilogram category, received his belt from Dimitar Bozherikov, and Mihail Georgiev (74) - from the mayor of Plovdiv Kostadin Dimitrov.
In the women's category, Bilyana Dudova took the award for the best Bulgarian athlete for the second year in a row. The world and four-time European champion received the prize from the president of the wrestling federation - Stanka Zlateva.
The two-time Olympic vice-champion in classical wrestling Parviz Nasibov (72) was announced as the best foreign wrestler, who was awarded by the Olympic champion Georgi Markov. And in the freestyle – the Russian Vladimir Egorov (61 kg), who competes for the Republic of North Macedonia. The European champion was awarded by Radoslav Velikov.
In the women's category, the award went to Maria Efremova from Ukraine.
On the last day of the competition, Andrian Valkanov (97) took silver in the freestyle, and Alen Hubulov – bronze in the 125-kilogram category.
In the women's category, Nikol Alexandrova remained one step away from the medal – fifth in the 53-kilogram category.
In the classics, Zhivko Hinkov (60) won silver, and Nicholas Sulev (67 kg) won bronze, after pinning Abu-Muslim Amaev in the small final.
Thus, Bulgaria ends the 63rd edition of the "Dan Kolov - Nikola Petrov" tournament with a total of 7 titles.
On Friday, Ahmed Bataev (92) in the freestyle and Svetoslav Nikolov (82) in the classics triumphed with the gold medals, and on Saturday, the Bulgarian wrestlers took a total of five titles, won by Stoyan Kubatov (77) and Kiril Milov (97) in the classic style, Shamil Mamedov (65) and Mihail Georgiev (74) in the freestyle, as well as Bilyana Dudova in the women's up to 62 kg category.
