What was booked as a high-profile freestyle wrestling match between Khamzat Chimaev and Dillon Danis quickly disintegrated into one of the most disgraceful post-fight riots in modern combat sports history, leaving athletic commissions scrambling to issue punishments. 

The In-Ring Catalyst

The athletic contest lasted just 44 seconds. Chimaev utilized his superior wrestling pedigree to execute a flawless fireman’s carry, securing a rapid pinfall victory. However, the sporting aspect ended the moment the referee signaled the stop. Instead of conceding, Danis blatantly violated freestyle rules by locking Chimaev in a tight guillotine choke from his back and refusing to let go.
