The legendary rivalry between Kamaru Usman and Colby Covington might be getting a brand-new chapter, but this time, there will be no punches allowed. Speaking on the Pound 4 Pound podcast with Henry Cejudo, Usman finally responded to Covington’s loud demands for a wrestling match, simply stating, "I never say never."
Fans know these two absolutely hate each other, having already fought two brutal wars in the UFC octagon. However, Covington recently shook up the combat sports world by winning the Real American Freestyle (RAF) Cruiserweight Crossover World Championship. On the Monday following his victory, Covington officially called out Usman to step onto the wrestling mats for a trilogy fight.
Instead of shutting the idea down, Usman showed respect for his rival's skills. He reminded listeners that underneath all the trash talk, Covington is a world-class, elite wrestler. Usman admitted that if the timing and the money are right, he is completely open to the match. This means we could soon see these two icons settle their beef the old-fashioned way—through raw, intense freestyle wrestling.
