NFL icon Ray Lewis might be trading the football field for a wrestling mat. Real American Freestyle (RAF) co-founders Chad Bronstein and Izzy Martinez revealed that discussions are officially underway to have the legendary linebacker compete for the promotion before the end of 2026. While the deal is not completely finalized yet, negotiations are heavily trending in a positive direction.

The massive crossover move is getting a major assist from combat sports royalty. Former UFC welterweight champion Tyron Woodley, who has already competed twice under the RAF banner, is actively helping to facilitate the deal to bring Lewis into the promotion.

Competing on the mat would not just be a publicity stunt for the Baltimore Ravens great. Long before his Hall of Fame football career, Lewis was an elite high school wrestler, even capturing the 1993 Florida State Championship in the 189-pound weight class. Lewis has frequently credited his extensive wrestling background as the main reason he developed such dominant, terrifying tackling skills on the gridiron.
