Paddy Pimblett isn’t making excuses after his UFC 324 loss to Justin Gaethje, but the effects of the multiple eye pokes he absorbed are still being felt.
One week after dropping a unanimous decision to Gaethje in their interim lightweight title fight in Las Vegas, Pimblett spoke about the damage he took, his recovery, and his desire to eventually earn a rematch. Although his face has healed quickly, Pimblett revealed his eyes are still not fully recovered.
Despite being knocked down twice and suffering visible damage, the 31-year-old expects a quick return. He plans to resume training immediately and believes the fight has already made him a better fighter, even if the loss still frustrates him.
Pimblett also made it clear he wants another shot at Gaethje, acknowledging a rematch may be unlikely given Gaethje’s stage of his career. Still, he insists there are things left unsettled and hopes their paths cross again in the future.
