UFC Hall of Famer and former middleweight champion Michael Bisping has expressed confidence that a potential fight between Islam Makhachev and the undefeated Ilia Topuria has the potential to attract millions of viewers worldwide.
“There is no bigger fight in the UFC right now than Islam Makhachev vs. Ilia Topuria. I know Justin is the interim champion and Ilia is the undisputed champion. That fight will certainly happen, but this one (between Islam and Ilia) is a once-in-a-lifetime event. The whole world will be watching. Millions of people will tune in,” Bisping said, according to the Red Corner MMA account on X.
Makhachev and Topuria have already expressed their desire to face each other in the octagon, but for now it remains only talk, with no official contract signed.
Makhachev’s record stands at 28 wins (5 by knockout) and 1 loss. The defeat came against Adriano Martins on October 3, 2015, at UFC 192. He lost by first-round knockout, which remains his first and only professional loss to date.
Topuria holds a perfect record of 17 wins in 17 fights, with 7 victories coming by knockout.
