Fight with Ryan Garcia at Wembley sounds good, but Barrios is the favorite

British boxer Conor Benn stated that a potential bout against Ryan Garcia at Wembley Stadium would be extremely appealing if the American wins the WBC super lightweight title. However, he does not consider such a scenario particularly realistic, as he sees a serious threat in the form of champion Mario Barrios.

“Barrios is consistent, and consistency is more important than anything else. Barrios is a real, hardworking Mexican—brave and worthy. He fights for a legacy, and that’s a big difference from his opponent, who fights for likes and opinions,” Benn told The Ring.

The Englishman also questioned Garcia’s preparation, noting that the American recently changed his coaching team again and returned to working with his father just before the fight.

“He wasn’t ready against Rolando Romero. Will Ryan be ready now? He looked incredible against Devin Haney and completely dominated him, so I hope he gets himself together. But the fact that he’s training with his dad in his living room doesn’t strike me as a good sign,” Benn commented.

The clash between Barrios and Garcia will take place on the night of February 21–22 in Las Vegas and will serve as the main event of the The Ring: High Stakes card, which is highly anticipated by boxing fans. The potential winner could open the door to future mega-fights—including a bout against Conor Benn himself.
