34-year-old Russian Islam Makhachev, the current UFC welterweight titleholder (up to 77 kg), spoke about Iliya Topuria's possible move to the welterweight division.
"As a puncher, Morales is much more dangerous. He sends people to sleep with every hit. I don't think Topuria will be as dangerous at 77 kg as he was at 70. His size, weight, and height are different. And I don't see any threat to myself if Topuria moves up to 77. I've said many times that I'm all for such a fight; it will be a big show, and the fans will be interested," Vladimir Chetverik, a correspondent for "Championship", commented Makhachev.
Islam is currently on a 16-fight winning streak in the UFC. Makhachev has a total of 28 wins and one loss. In his most recent fight, which took place at UFC 322 in New York City, the Russian faced Australian Jack Della Maddalena. The UFC welterweight title was on the line. The fight ended with Makhachev winning by unanimous decision.
