Former UFC champions Merab Dvalishvili and Henry Cejudo will renew their rivalry, but outside the octagon. The two have agreed to a rematch in the Real American Freestyle (RAF) wrestling league, which began organizing tournaments last year.
The 35-year-old Dvalishvili recently signed a contract with the organization and attended the RAF 6 event held on February 28. In the evening’s main event, the 39-year-old Cejudo earned a convincing victory over Urijah Faber, after which he issued a direct challenge to the Georgian fighter.
The league’s management reacted immediately and officially announced the clash between the two. The rematch will take place on April 18 in the United States as part of the RAF 8 tournament.
Dvalishvili already holds a victory over Cejudo — in February 2024, he won by unanimous decision in the UFC, using his strong wrestling and trademark takedowns. This makes the upcoming freestyle wrestling bout even more intriguing, as Cejudo is an Olympic champion from the 2008 Beijing Games, a title that highlights his elite level in this particular discipline.
