Dana White says he’s willing to box Eddie Hearn if their increasingly heated feud ever turns into a fight.
The tension between the UFC CEO and the Matchroom Boxing promoter has escalated rapidly in recent weeks following the launch of Zuffa Boxing. What was once a cordial relationship between the two promoters has quickly turned into a public rivalry since White officially stepped into the boxing business.
After the third event of the new promotion at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas, White mocked boxing promoters by saying competing against them was like “beating up babies.” Hearn fired back soon after, blasting Zuffa Boxing’s newly introduced title and calling it the “cringiest sh*t” he had ever seen.
The feud reached another level when White and Turki Alalshikh signed Conor Benn to Zuffa Boxing — one of Hearn’s biggest stars under the Matchroom Boxing banner. The move reportedly caught Hearn completely by surprise. In what many viewed as a response, Hearn later signed a representation deal with UFC heavyweight champion Tom Aspinall, who is currently sidelined due to an eye injury.
During a recent interview with Piers Morgan, White was asked if he would actually step into the ring to settle his differences with Hearn.
"First of all, we're both too old," White said. "That would have to be like a Jake Paul Netflix card – or we could both fight Jake Paul. We're in his age bracket of guys he likes to fight."
White, 56, is ten years older than Hearn. While the UFC boss joked about the idea, he also made it clear he wouldn’t rule it out.
"Listen, if Eddie wants to box, we can box," White said. "I don't think Eddie wants to box. ... Back in the day, I used to box with all the guys. Boxers and UFC guys. I have boxed."
