Former two-division UFC champion Conor McGregor is reportedly close to making his long-awaited return to the octagon, nearly five years after his last fight. According to Ariel Helwani, the Irish star is expected to compete on July 11 during International Fight Week.
“We talked about the meeting between Conor McGregor and Dana White two weeks ago and I said it went well,” Helwani explained. “At this point, it’s safe to say that only some kind of extraordinary situation could prevent McGregor from fighting on July 11. The UFC needs this more than ever.”
The most likely opponent appears to be Max Holloway, who recently stated he is willing to face McGregor in any weight class. The two have met before back in 2013, when McGregor won by decision in a featherweight bout.
Adding fuel to the speculation, McGregor himself recently posted a training video on social media with the caption “2026. International Fight Week,” further increasing expectations for his comeback.
If confirmed, this would mark one of the biggest returns in Ultimate Fighting Championship history.
