Alexander Volkanovski Frustrated: Ultimate Fighting Championship Delaying Fight with Movsar Evloev

UFC featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski has voiced frustration over the organization’s continued delay in booking a title fight against the No. 1 contender, Movsar Evloev.

The Russian solidified his top contender status after defeating Lerone Murphy, yet he has still not been granted a title opportunity—something that is now clearly bothering the champion as well.

“I’ll fight whoever the UFC gives me,” Volkanovski said in a video posted on social media. “But how many more times am I going to fight other guys when there’s a clear No. 1 contender? It looks ridiculous… and it gets to the point where I look bad because I’m not fighting the No. 1 contender.”

The Australian emphasized that, in his view, the logical next opponent is Evloev.

“Obviously, it should be Movsar. I’m a very straightforward champion—I fight the best. Even if the UFC insists on someone else, fine, but then I start asking myself: ‘What am I even doing here? Am I just wasting the last years of my career?’” Volkanovski added.

The situation raises questions about the next title defense in the featherweight division and could potentially lead to major decisions from the champion.
