Impa Kasanganay left little doubt about his place in the PFL middleweight title picture.
Kasanganay delivered an explosive performance on Saturday night at PFL Pittsburgh, stopping hometown favorite Dalton Rosta in the first round of the co-main event at the UPMC Events Center.
The action started at a furious pace, with both fighters trading heavy shots early. The finish came at the 3:18 mark of the opening round when Kasanganay connected with a sharp right-left combination that sent Rosta crashing to the canvas. A brief flurry of follow-up punches forced the stoppage moments later.
With the victory, Kasanganay improved to 20-6 and extended his winning streak to two fights, strengthening his case for a shot at middleweight champion Costello van Steenis.
Rosta, meanwhile, fell to 11-3 and has now suffered back-to-back defeats after also losing to Fabian Edwards in last year's PFL middleweight tournament.
