Two UFC Hopefuls Set for Redemption on Dana White's Contender Series

Two rising heavyweight prospects are set to get another opportunity on Dana White's Contender Series.

Mario Piazzon and Guilherme Uriel will face off on the Aug. 25 card at the UFC Apex in Las Vegas.

Sources familiar with the matchup confirmed the booking to MMA Junkie but requested anonymity, as the promotion has not yet made an official announcement.

Piazzon (10-1), a training partner of former UFC heavyweight contender Jailton Almeida, previously appeared on DWCS in 2023, earning a win via disqualification—a result that drew criticism, including from Dana White. Since then, he has compiled a 3-1 record with two TKO victories.

Uriel (7-2) competed on DWCS in 2025, where he suffered a knockout loss to Josh Hokit. He has fought once since, bouncing back with an impressive 96-second knockout win over Leonardo Fraga at LFA 229 in March.

Combined, the two fighters have recorded 14 finishes across their 17 career wins.

No additional bouts have been announced for the Aug. 25 event at this time.
