Marcus McGhee has a new opponent for UFC Fight Night 278.
John Yannis has stepped in to replace the injured Jakub Wiklacz for a bantamweight bout scheduled for June 6 at the UFC APEX in Las Vegas.
The matchup was first reported by sources close to the situation, who spoke on condition of anonymity as the promotion has yet to make an official announcement.
McGhee (10-2 MMA, 4-1 UFC) has been out of action since suffering a unanimous decision loss to Petr Yan last July. Before that setback, he had remained unbeaten inside the octagon, earning victories over Journey Newson, JP Buys, Gaston Bolanos, and Jonathan Martinez.
Yannis (10-4 MMA, 1-1 UFC) secured his first UFC win on April 18, scoring a first-round knockout over debuting Jamie Siraj in Winnipeg, Canada. The win marked a strong rebound for the former Fury FC champion, who dropped his promotional debut against Austin Bashi.
