Sean O'Malley is not a fan of the UFC Freedom 250 fight kits.
O’Malley (19–3 MMA, 11–3 UFC) is set to face Aiemann Zahabi (14–2 MMA, 8–2 UFC) in a bantamweight bout on June 14 at the White House, with the event streaming on Paramount+.
Earlier this week, the UFC revealed the fight kits for the historic event, but the former bantamweight champion wasn’t impressed.
“I don’t even know if I’m supposed to say this, but they’re ugly,” O’Malley said on his YouTube channel. “Mine were ugly. I don’t like them. They’re not pink, which is fine—I’ve worn other colors before. I’m not going to skip the fight just because my shorts aren’t pink. I’ll just make my hair pink or something. I’m not mad.
“But honestly, it feels like they went on Fiverr and said, ‘Hey, we’ve got these guys fighting on the White House lawn—can you come up with something?’ … I just didn’t love them.”
O’Malley, who is known for wearing pink shorts, did admit there’s one upside to the white kit.
“I will say, I like the white because I truly believe I’m going to crack Aiemann,” he said. “I think I’ll bloody his nose. I expect to land a lot of shots. He’s tough and durable, but I believe I’m going to beat him up—kind of like the Kris Moutinho fight.
“But I’m much better now than I was back then. I believe I’ll finish him. And honestly, I’m excited to see my white shorts turn red—I want to see just how red they can get from his blood. That part is kind of cool. But overall, I still didn’t love them.”
