McGregor Returns Against Max Holloway at UFC 329

“The Notorious” faces former champion in long-awaited rematch in Las Vegas

McGregor Returns Against Max Holloway at UFC 329

After months of speculation, Conor McGregor officially has a return date set for the UFC. The Irish superstar will face Max Holloway in the main event of UFC 329, scheduled for July 11 at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

McGregor (22-6 MMA, 10-4 UFC) has not competed since July 2021, when he suffered a broken leg in his trilogy fight against Dustin Poirier. He now returns to the Octagon for a highly anticipated rematch with Holloway (27-9 MMA, 23-9 UFC), this time at welterweight.

The announcement was made by UFC CEO Dana White, coming amid an active fight weekend featuring multiple major MMA events.

The two fighters previously met in 2013 at UFC Fight Night 26, where McGregor won via unanimous decision. At the time, the Irishman dominated with grappling and control, despite later dealing with an injury during the bout.

Since then, Holloway has built one of the most impressive careers in UFC history, becoming featherweight champion, winning and defending multiple titles, and capturing the BMF belt while defeating elite competition.

Holloway enters the bout following a loss to Charles Oliveira at UFC 326 and has openly expressed his desire to avenge his previous defeat to McGregor, adding extra intensity to the matchup.
