Nate Diaz wants a rematch with Mike Perry as soon as possible after suffering a TKO loss due to a corner stoppage. The two fought in the co-main event of MVP’s first MMA event in Inglewood, where Perry ultimately did more damage and secured the win.
Although Diaz took significant punishment, including a bad cut in Round 2 that led to heavy bleeding, he isn’t planning to take time off. A cageside doctor stopped the fight before Round 3, not allowing him to continue. Diaz said he understood the decision, even if he wasn’t happy with it, admitting he was losing a lot of blood and had trouble seeing.
The fight itself was competitive and entertaining, with both fighters having their moments, but Perry’s damage made the difference. Diaz, who has built up a lot of scar tissue over his long career, has previously lost fights in similar fashion due to cuts.
Now with 35 professional fights since starting in 2004, Diaz made it clear he’s not thinking about retirement. He says he still feels the same motivation as earlier in his career and believes he has plenty more to accomplish, insisting that he plans to keep going and isn’t close to stepping away from the sport.
