Ilia Topuria targets Ryan Garcia in boxing clash talk, gets sharp response

Ryan Garcia has issued a blunt warning to Ilia Topuria, suggesting that stepping into the boxing ring with him would be a serious mistake.

Topuria, the UFC lightweight champion (17-0 MMA, 9-0 UFC), has built a reputation for his sharp boxing, scoring consecutive wins over elite names such as Alexander Volkanovski, Max Holloway, and Charles Oliveira.

As he prepares for a title-unification bout against Justin Gaethje at UFC Freedom 250 on June 14, Topuria revealed his interest in eventually testing himself in boxing.

“Boxing is definitely something that makes me think, ‘Wow, I’d love to do that,’” Topuria said in an interview with ABC. “But I’d want a big name — someone established, someone who adds real value to my resume. I wouldn’t risk everything I’ve built just for a payday against a nobody.”

When Garcia’s name was suggested, Topuria welcomed the idea.

“That would be a massive fight — I’d love it,” he said. “Honestly, I think a fight with Ryan Garcia would be very comfortable for me. I believe I’d break him long before it ever goes to the judges.”

Garcia didn’t take long to respond — and his message was clear.

“You’re a great striker for MMA — that’s it,” Garcia fired back. “After our fight, you wouldn’t be sipping tea — you’d be drinking through a straw. Stay in your lane. I’ll stay in mine.”
