Topuria makes a bold promise: I’ll be the first to finish Gaethje in round one

"No one has ever knocked out Gaethje in the first round? Not even Max Holloway could do it? Well, I’ll be the first," Ilia Topuria declared during a recent press conference, sending a strong message ahead of one of the most anticipated fights of the year.

Topuria began his professional mixed martial arts career in April 2015 and has rapidly risen to become one of the sport’s biggest stars. Since joining the UFC in October 2020, “El Matador” has built an impeccable reputation thanks to his aggressive fighting style and devastating finishing ability. The Georgian-Spanish fighter remains undefeated with a perfect record of 17 victories, with only two of those wins coming by judges’ decision.

Standing across from him will be the battle-tested Justin Gaethje. The 37-year-old American veteran boasts a professional record of 27 wins, including 21 finishes, and five losses. Known for his relentless pressure and knockout power, Gaethje has been competing professionally in mixed martial arts since 2011 and remains one of the most dangerous fighters in the UFC.

The highly anticipated showdown is set for Monday, June 15, with the fight scheduled to begin at 6:00 a.m. Moscow time. Their clash will headline the UFC White House: Freedom 250 event, adding even more significance to a matchup that could produce fireworks from the opening bell.
