No Sympathy from the Challenger: Arman Tsarukyan Reacts to Topuria’s Defeat on The Ariel Helwani Show

The fallout from UFC Freedom 250 continues to reshape the lightweight landscape, and top contender Arman Tsarukyan is not holding back. Appearing on Monday's episode of The Ariel Helwani Show, Tsarukyan offered a brutal, unfiltered assessment of Ilia Topuria’s historic title loss to Justin Gaethje, explicitly accusing the former champion of quitting on the stool. 

Topuria’s undefeated streak came to a crashing halt on the White House lawn when his corner stopped the fight before the fifth round due to severe facial fractures. While many fans praised the corner's compassion, Tsarukyan viewed the stoppage as a fundamental breakdown in championship resolve.

"Of course he quit," Tsarukyan told Ariel Helwani during the live broadcast. "If my brother said no, I'm still going to fight." 

The critique adds fuel to an already bitter rivalry. Prior to the fight, Topuria had repeatedly dismissed Tsarukyan's skills, publicly vowing to "break his jaw" in a future matchup. Tsarukyan noted that Topuria paid the ultimate price for his arrogance, suggesting that the former champion spent too much time focusing on media obligations rather than the lethal threat posed by Gaethje. 

"This loss will give him a lot of lessons not to be overconfident, respect your opponents, and keep grinding," Tsarukyan explained to Helwani. "He was more focused on his media stuff than his training camp."

Despite the harsh words, the interview was not entirely filled with animosity. Tsarukyan praised Topuria’s classy post-fight Instagram statement, admitting it was good to see the fallen champion accept the loss without making excuses. Furthermore, Tsarukyan revealed he had a highly lucrative reason to celebrate the weekend's chaotic main event. The contender admitted he bet $1 million on Gaethje to pull off the upset, walking away with a staggering $5.7 million payout.

Now, with Gaethje holding the undisputed lightweight title, Tsarukyan has his sights set firmly on the new king. He made it clear to Helwani that he intends to submit Gaethje, take the belt, and eventually hand Topuria an even worse beating if their paths ever cross inside the Octagon.
