Share on FacebookThe Atlanta Police Department has released bodycam footage documenting the June 21, 2026, arrest of former UFC interim lightweight champion Dustin Poirier. The incident took place around 4:50 p.m. at Delta Gate D36 inside Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. Police records show Poirier was booked into the Clayton County Jail on a misdemeanor charge of public drunkenness and released several hours later.
According to the official police report, Delta Air Lines employees denied Poirier entry to Flight 1295 due to signs of intoxication. The video footage captures Poirier shouting multiple profanities at both airline staff and the responding officer. The situation escalated when Poirier removed his backpack, assumed a boxing stance, and verbally challenged an airport worker, stating, "I'll fight you right now". Recognizing Poirier's background as a professional athlete, the primary officer called for emergency backup.
The footage shows a shift in behavior once additional law enforcement officers arrived at the gate. Poirier stopped shouting and agreed to comply with the arrest, telling officers, "If you want to arrest me, then go ahead". Before being escorted away in handcuffs, Poirier extended his fist toward the airport worker he had previously challenged and said, "You did a great job, bro. You did what you could".
Following his release, Poirier addressed the incident via his official Instagram account. In a public statement, he stated that he is seeking professional help for alcohol issues following his retirement from mixed martial arts. In the state of Georgia, a conviction for misdemeanor public drunkenness carries a maximum penalty of up to one year in jail, a $1,000 fine, or both.
