Colby Covington Defends McGregor and Slams Dustin Poirier

After Conor McGregor suffered a terrible knee injury that ended his comeback fight in just 69 seconds, the fighting world had a lot to say. While some people mocked the Irish star, former UFC fighter Colby Covington took a completely different approach. In a recent interview, Covington defended McGregor and used the moment to blast his long-time enemy, Dustin Poirier, for mocking the fallen champion.

Covington made it clear that he will not kick McGregor while he is down. He explained that McGregor is the biggest star the sport has ever seen and deserves respect for everything he has done for the UFC. Covington also stated that he expects McGregor to recover from his surgery and return to the cage to finish his contract.

However, Covington saved his harshest words for Poirier, who had publicly laughed at McGregor's misfortune. Calling Poirier a "fake nice guy" and "Louisiana swamp trash," Covington blasted his former training partner for showing his true colors. He pointed out that McGregor actually helped build Poirier's career through their massive past fights. Covington even brought up Poirier’s recent real-life troubles, including an arrest at an airport on Father's Day, to argue that Poirier is a bad person off-camera. For Covington, celebrating a freak injury is unacceptable, and he believes Poirier's behavior is proof of his poor character.
