In a recent interview with ALF Global, Jon Jones shared a wild negotiation story from early in his career. Right after a grueling title defense, UFC boss Dana White asked him to accept another high-stakes fight just four to five weeks later against Lyoto Machida.
Jones immediately refused because he had just fought and desperately needed time to rest. Determined to make the matchup happen, White pushed back and asked, "What car do you want?" Jones was completely confused by the question, prompting White to clarify, "Any car in the world, what car do you want?"
As a 24-year-old kid, Jones threw out a massive request: a Bentley. Without hesitation, White replied, "Good, there's a Bentley dealership down the street," and told him to go pick it out. Jones drove away with a beautiful Bentley GT Coupe that very day and, keeping his end of the bargain, signed the contract to accept the short-notice fight.
The luxury ride did not stay flawless for long. Not much later, Jones crashed the high-powered vehicle into a pole. Looking back, Jones admitted he was simply way too young and immature for such a powerful machine.
