UFC welterweight champion Islam Makhachev has expressed ultimate confidence ahead of his upcoming title defense against undefeated challenger Ian Machado Garry. Makhachev made his statement during an official promotional interview for UFConParamount and the official UFC 330 promotional media release, where he publicly vowed to finalize the matchup inside the first three rounds. The highly anticipated bout will headline UFC 330 in Philadelphia on August 16.

Makhachev enters the Octagon riding a historic 16-fight winning streak in the UFC, matching the legendary record set by Anderson Silva. With a professional record of 28-1, the Dagestani fighter has secured 13 of his career victories by way of submission. He captured the 170-pound division title in November 2025 by defeating Jack Della Maddalena via unanimous decision.

Standing in his way is the undefeated Ian Garry, who carries a perfect 18-0 professional mixed martial arts record. The Irish contender relies heavily on high-volume striking and movement, creating a classic clash of styles against the elite wrestling and combat sambo of the champion.
