Islam Makhachev: ''Ian Garry Should Do Less Interviews and Train More!''

The pre-fight talk for UFC 330 has just become very personal. UFC champion Islam Makhachev spoke about his upcoming opponent, Ian Machado Garry, and he did not hold back. Instead of being worried about the undefeated Irish fighter, Makhachev laughed at Garry's recent media appearances, saying they feel fake and totally unnatural.

"Honestly, he looks very bad in these interviews," Makhachev said bluntly. "It looks like somebody in the house controls him and says, 'Tell him what to say.' He needs to focus more on training and less on interviews." Makhachev expects Garry to try acting like a "bad guy" during fight week, but believes it is all just a scripted show.

When it comes to the actual fight, the champion is completely confident. He knows Garry is tall, fast, and has good striking, but he sees a massive weakness. Makhachev plans to exploit Garry's grappling skills, which have not truly been tested at the highest level.

"His ground game is not so good," Makhachev explained. "The first time I take him down, it’s going to be a finish." He promised to take risks early in the fight to make sure he finishes Garry quickly.

Makhachev also said that he now feels perfectly adjusted and very comfortable fighting at welterweight. The big title fight takes place at UFC 330 on August 15.
