Usman Nurmagomedov Delays Decision on His Future

Usman Nurmagomedov will give the PFL 90 days to negotiate a new contract before deciding whether to remain with the promotion or consider a potential offer from the UFC.

This was revealed by the Russian fighter’s manager, Ali Abdelaziz. Nurmagomedov defended his PFL lightweight title on July 31 and became a free agent after his contract expired.

“We have to talk to everybody. We agreed with them on 90 days. When those 90 days are up, I will talk to the UFC. My job is to talk to everybody. Then I’ll come back and talk to Khabib and Usman,” Abdelaziz told Adam Zubayraev.

Nurmagomedov’s contract expiring comes at a crucial time for the PFL, which has joined forces with Jake Paul’s MVP promotion. The new structure aims to compete more aggressively with the UFC, and the promotion is expected to do everything possible to retain its biggest stars.

Abdelaziz emphasized that the final decision will be made after a discussion between Usman Nurmagomedov and his cousin Khabib, who plays an important role within the champion’s team.

“They will make the decision. Khabib is the captain of the team and Usman’s older brother. They have a great relationship. We’ll all get together and talk as brothers. We’ll make the best decision. For now, let Usman enjoy his victory, and then we’ll move forward,” the manager added.
