PHILADELPHIA — Islam Makhachev successfully defended the UFC Welterweight Championship, defeating challenger Ian Machado Garry via unanimous decision in the main event of UFC 330. The five-round bout took place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at the Xfinity Mobile Arena.

All three ringside judges scored the 25-minute contest in favor of Makhachev - two of them 49-46, and on 48-47.

Makhachev neutralized Garry’s reach advantage by closing the distance to initiate wrestling exchanges. The champion secured multiple takedowns across the five rounds, accumulating top control time on the canvas and limiting Garry's striking output.

While Garry maintained vertical posture in portions of the later rounds to land striking combinations, Makhachev’s ground control and grappling pressure secured the majority of the rounds on the official judges' scorecards.

Professional Records and Milestones

Islam Makhachev: Improved his professional mixed martial arts record to 29-1. The victory marks his first successful defense of the 170-pound welterweight title and extends his active UFC winning streak to 17 consecutive fights.

Ian Machado Garry: His professional record moved to 17-2, marking the second defeat of his professional career.
