Michael Bisping Blames Friendliness for Ian Garry’s UFC 330 Defeat

Former Champion Agrees with Dana White That the Irish Fighter Was Too Nice and Defensive

UFC Hall of Famer Michael Bisping did not hold back in his latest YouTube post-fight analysis video following UFC 330. The former champion criticized Ian Machado Garry for showing far too much respect to lightweight king Islam Makhachev. Bisping strongly agreed with UFC CEO Dana White's post-fight comments, stating that Garry essentially threw away his chances by being overly friendly throughout the entire event.

Bisping pointed out that Garry’s weirdly polite behavior started way before the fight. During the pre-fight press conference, the Irish contender actually tried to answer a media question on behalf of Makhachev. Bisping argued that this friendly attitude carried right into the fifth round of the actual championship bout. Instead of hugging Makhachev to start the final five minutes, Bisping insisted that Garry should have ran across the cage with a wild flying knee or an unexpected attack.

According to Bisping, you simply do not become a UFC champion by being so defensive and passive. At the same time, the British legend gave huge kudos to Makhachev. Bisping noted that while it certainly was not the pound-for-pound king's best performance ever, Makhachev still found a way to win and break Anderson Silva's historic all-time UFC win streak record.
