Daniel Cormier reveals what impressed him most about Mackenzie Dern at UFC 330

Daniel Cormier praised Mackenzie Dern for her dominant performance against Gillian Robertson at UFC 330.

Dern (16-5 MMA, 7-5 UFC) successfully defended her strawweight title for the first time, outclassing Robertson (17-8 MMA, 14-6 UFC) in Saturday’s co-main event at Xfinity Mobile Arena in Philadelphia.

Cormier believes Robertson struggled to offer any meaningful offense against the champion.

“It was very evident very early that Robertson really didn't have anything for Mackenzie,” Cormier said on his YouTube channel. “She dominated the grappling and all areas of the fight, except for Round 5, where Gillian was able to take her down and keep her there for an extended period of time.”

Cormier also highlighted Dern’s improvements on the feet while praising her elite ground game.

“She looked explosive. Her striking looked better. Obviously, her grappling is top notch, and she completely dominated. Now she has defended her strawweight championship in the UFC.”

Robertson’s performance also frustrated her head coach, Din Thomas, who announced after the fight that he would retire from cornering fighters.
