15 vs 1: The Alleged Namo Fazil Hotel Room Confrontation Explained

The Iraqi-Kurdish fighter claims a massive group cornered him less than 24 hours before his knockout loss.

A major controversy has erupted in the mixed martial arts world following allegations from fighter Namo Fazil, who claims he was cornered by a large group of men inside his hotel room. The incident allegedly took place in Las Vegas less than 24 hours before his main event bout at Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS).

According to Fazil, he was completely exhausted and resting in his room while finishing a brutal 14-kilogram weight cut. Suddenly, there was a loud knock on his door. When his coach opened it, approximately 15 Chechen men allegedly walked inside the room. Fazil claims that Baisangur Susurkaev, a teammate of UFC star Khamzat Chimaev, was part of the group.

Fazil states he tried to keep the peace and told the men he did not want to throw the first punch. However, he alleges that one of the men stepped forward and slapped him twice. The situation quickly turned into a chaotic shouting match as his coaches tried to push the group away before hotel security and local police finally arrived. Following the knockout loss, Susurkaev seemingly mocked Fazil on social media, posting a photo of his hand with a caption referencing the slap.

UFC CEO Dana White later confirmed to journalists that "some shit" had indeed occurred at the fighter hotel prior to the event, though he did not provide further details.
