Arman Tsarukyan recently crushed rumors that he is the richest fighter in the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC). Speaking in a Russian video interview on the popular YouTube channel Vpiska with host Vasily "Vasya" Truchev, the lightweight fighter explained his real financial status. He made it clear that massive sports icons like Conor McGregor live in a completely different financial world because of their big business deals.

To prove his point, Tsarukyan talked about McGregor’s famous sale of his Proper No. Twelve whiskey brand. That single business deal was worth about $600 million. Tsarukyan also explained that some current and former champions make much more money than him right now. For example, he revealed that light heavyweight champion Alex Pereira earns two to three times more money per fight. This is because Pereira gets huge extra payments from sponsors and advertisement deals.

Tsarukyan also mentioned his former opponent Islam Makhachev as someone who makes huge money from his UFC contracts. Even though Tsarukyan’s family runs a very successful construction business, the fighter works hard for his own financial independence. He hopes that by the time he retires, he might become the richest athlete in the sport. However, as a rising contender still chasing his first real world title, he admits he is not at the top yet.
