Mixed martial arts star Merab Dvalishvili recently cleared the air about his feelings toward fighters from Dagestan during an interview on The Ariel Helwani Show. The former champion made it clear that he generally respects the region's fighting community. However, he specifically named two people he does not like: fighter Umar Nurmagomedov and his manager, Rizvan Magomedov.

Dvalishvili explained that his main issue is with the manager. He noted thatRizvan Magomedov visited Georgia in the past, where local people welcomed him with great warmth and hospitality. Despite this kind treatment, Magomedov later spoke negatively about the country. Dvalishvili also claimed the manager actively pushed Umar Nurmagomedov to post negative comments about him on the social media platform X.

Even with these online tensions, Dvalishvili emphasized that he holds no bad feelings toward the rest of the Nurmagomedov family. To prove his deep admiration, he mentioned that he has often posted old photographs of the late patriarch, Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov. He also expressed maximum respect for UFC legends Khabib Nurmagomedov and Islam Makhachev. By speaking out, Dvalishvili wanted to show that his problem is strictly personal with two individuals, rather than a wider grievance against the family or the region.
