Song Yadong Stuns Shanghai and Knocks Out Umar Nurmagomedov

The Chinese star scored the biggest victory of his career with a brutal second-round finish

Song Yadong delivered a huge upset at UFC Fight Night 286 in Shanghai, knocking out Umar Nurmagomedov in the second round. Fighting in front of his home crowd, the Chinese fighter produced a disciplined performance and handed Nurmagomedov only the second defeat of his professional career.

Nurmagomedov had the advantage in the opening round, taking the fight to the ground on several occasions and controlling Song from top position. However, Song gradually found his rhythm and came out much more aggressively in the second round.

The turning point came when Nurmagomedov once again attempted a takedown, only for Song to meet him with a perfectly timed right hand. The Dagestani fighter immediately collapsed, and Song followed up with several more punches before the referee stepped in.

Song Yadong defeated Umar Nurmagomedov by knockout, Round 2, 1:48.

The victory is the biggest of Song's career and puts him in an excellent position for another major fight in the UFC bantamweight division.
