Share on FacebookUFC Hall of Famer Daniel Cormier has dismissed rumors that PFL champion Usman Nurmagomedov tried to attack Song Yadong during a chaotic post-fight scene at UFC Shanghai. The confusion happened right after Song scored a stunning knockout victory over Umar Nurmagomedov. As Song ran around the cage to celebrate, he passed close to Umar’s corner team, leading to a brief run-in with Usman.
Some fans watching in real time believed Usman tried to hit Song with an elbow. Speaking on his YouTube channel, Cormier strongly denied those claims, calling them conspiracy theories. He explained that Usman was simply reaching out to stop a collision as Song ran toward him, with no intention of starting a fight. Song himself never stopped celebrating and later approached Khabib Nurmagomedov and the rest of the team to show his respect.
While Cormier admitted that jumping into the octagon is strictly banned by the UFC to avoid dangerous brawls, he argued that Usman deserves some understanding. He noted that Usman acted purely out of raw emotion after watching his biological brother get knocked out cold. Fortunately, the incident did not escalate, security kept control, and doctors quickly entered the cage to check on Umar. UFC officials have not issued any punishments following the brief misunderstanding.
