UFC Star Anthony Smith Gets Next Fight Announced While Awaiting Domestic Violence Trial

Former UFC fighter Anthony Smith will return to the cage on October 2nd. He is set to fight Jordan Heiderman in the main event of a heavyweight tournament in the Dominican Republic. The event is run by Gamebred FC, a fighting league owned by Jorge Masvidal.

This fight news has caused a lot of talk because the 38-year-old Smith is facing serious legal trouble. In July, police arrested him in Nebraska after an argument with his wife. Prosecutors accuse him of threatening her and trying to hit her with a car. Smith has pleaded not guilty to several major crimes, including domestic violence and false imprisonment. He is currently out of jail on a $500,000 bond, but he could go to prison for up to 20 years if a court finds him guilty later this year.

Many fight fans are angry that the league booked Smith while his trial is still ongoing. However, Gamebred FC President Lex McMahon defended the decision. He stated that everyone is innocent until proven guilty. McMahon also said the company will not stop Smith from working and making money to feed his family before he gets a fair trial.
