Arman Tsarukyan: ''I Want to Defend the Lightweight Belt 5 Times!''

UFC star Arman Tsarukyan has no plans to change weight classes anytime soon.

Speaking on the Deep Waters podcast, Tsarukyan was asked if he would move up to the 170-pound welterweight division. The move would allow him to chase a highly anticipated rematch against Islam Makhachev. Tsarukyan shut down the idea immediately. He explained that his main goal is to dominate the 155-pound lightweight division first.

Makhachev defended the lightweight title four times before moving up. Tsarukyan wants to beat that record by defending the belt at least five times. He noted that moving up requires gaining a lot of muscle. After hitting his five-defense goal, Tsarukyan says he will either retire or finally move up to 170 pounds.
