Song Yadong Defends Usman Nurmagomedov After Hectic Cage Jumping Incident

UFC bantamweight Song Yadong has cleared the air about the chaotic ending to his recent fight. Song shocked the world by knocking out Umar Nurmagomedov in the main event of UFC Shanghai. Right after the referee stopped the fight, Umar’s brother, Usman Nurmagomedov, jumped over the cage fence and moved toward the celebrating winner.

Online videos showed a near-collision between the two. Many fans on the internet claimed that Usman maliciously tried to attack Song with a spinning back elbow strike. However, Song completely dismissed those rumors. He stated that watching the slow-motion footage makes it look like Usman was turning around to throw a strike, but it was not an attack.

Song explained that Usman simply jumped into the cage to check on his unconscious brother. He added that when someone is running around to celebrate, a protective brother will naturally react to protect his family. Song concluded that there was no bad blood or verbal trash talk before the match, making the incident a simple misunderstanding.
