During his pre-fight press conference, surging lightweight Mauricio Ruffy shut down the idea that beating the highly popular Arman Tsarukyan is bigger than winning a UFC title. Reporters asked Ruffy if the massive internet attention and viewership surrounding Tsarukyan would make a victory over him the biggest moment of his career.

Ruffy completely disagreed, shifting the focus back to active competition and championship gold. He pointed out that while Tsarukyan has only fought a couple of times over the last few years, Ruffy has remained incredibly busy. The Brazilian striker highlighted his own high activity rate, noting he has stepped into the cage six times in the last two years and is currently chasing his third consecutive victory of 2026. Ultimately, Ruffy stated that outside hype does not interest him, emphasizing that winning the undisputed UFC belt remains the only truly important goal in his career.
