Arman Tsarukyan secured an impressive victory over Mauricio Ruffy in the co-main event of UFC 331 in Los Angeles. The two started cautiously, with Ruffy showing good defense against the Armenian’s takedown attempts, but Tsarukyan gradually increased the pressure and pushed the fight against the fence.
The decisive moment came late in the first round. Tsarukyan once again appeared to be setting up a takedown, but instead landed a powerful elbow that rocked Ruffy. The Armenian immediately followed up with another strike, sending the Brazilian to his back and prompting the referee to stop the fight.
Tsarukyan therefore scored a first-round knockout and extended his winning streak to six consecutive victories. The win is particularly important in his pursuit of another title shot, following recent victories over Dan Hooker and in the RAF grappling competition.
