Undefeated welterweight Alvi Dasuyev officially earned his ticket to the UFC after a highly entertaining fight at Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS). The co-main event saw the unbeaten fighter face off against fellow prospect Jaden Ortega. Dasuyev extended his flawless professional record to 10-0, walking away with a hard-fought unanimous decision victory and a brand-new promotional contract.
The bout nearly ended early as Dasuyev unleashed sharp offense to drop Ortega in the opening round. However, Ortega proved to be incredibly durable, surviving the early onslaught and utilizing Dasuyev’s second-round exhaustion to launch a comeback. Despite looking spent due to what he later blamed on severe jet lag, Dasuyev dug deep in the final frame to secure the win on the judges' scorecards. Impressed by the sheer grit of the fight, UFC CEO Dana White uniquely awarded UFC contracts to both Dasuyev and the defeated Ortega.
The rest of the card also delivered an explosive night of action at the UFC Apex. In the main event, Norbert Novenyi Jr. used his grappling to secure a unanimous decision victory over Theo Haig. Meanwhile, flyweight Marcos Degli locked in a roster spot with a spectacular, standing one-armed rear-naked choke over Paris Moran. Heavyweight Damian Piwowarczyk also earned a contract after using his raw power to score a devastating first-round technical knockout over Emilio Quissua.
