Petr Yan Dismisses Bantamweight Contenders Ahead of Merab Dvalishvili Fight

UFC bantamweight champion Petr Yan remains completely unimpressed by the current crop of rising contenders in his division. Speaking on his upcoming fight schedule, the reigning titleholder made it clear that he sees nothing special in the new wave of fighters trying to climb the rankings. Yan explained that he is simply focused on his own path to defend his crown, regardless of who stands across from him inside the Octagon.

During a recent media interaction, Yan openly downplayed the skill level of his potential future challengers. "There's really not all that much that I’m impressed with. Same kind of people swirling around, so I’m happy to come out and fight everybody and beat everybody," Yan stated confidently. The champion pointed out that he has already handled top-tier talent in the division, including a victory over Song Yadong, proving his elite status remains untouched.

Yan also emphasized that he has never been a fighter to handpick his matchups or avoid dangerous style pairings. He stated firmly that matchmaking decisions belong entirely to the UFC brass, and his only job as the king of the division is to show up and perform. "The champ doesn't choose his opponents," Yan concluded, reassuring fans that he is ready to clear out the division one by one.
