Magomed "Chanko" Zaynukov has officially denied online reports claiming he will fight Manoel Sousa at UFC Qatar in November. The rumors spread quickly across MMA media outlets after a journalist reported that the high-stakes lightweight matchup was locked in. However, the undefeated Russian prospect took to social media to firmly shut down the speculation.
The 31-year-old fighter clarified that he is physically unable to compete for the rest of the year. Zaynukov, who trains with UFC champion Islam Makhachev, is currently dealing with the aftermath of a recent medical procedure. The fighter explained his current status on his Instagram Stories, stating, “I didn’t sign any contract. I won’t be fighting this year due to surgery. I’m currently undergoing rehabilitation and recovery."
This news means Manoel Sousa is left without an opponent for the upcoming event in Doha. Zaynukov holds a perfect 9-0 professional record and won his UFC debut back in July. Fans will now have to wait until early 2027 to see "Wild Chanko" make his highly anticipated return to the Octagon.
