Dana White did not hold back his criticism directly inside the cage during the contract selection segment of the show. The UFC CEO openly blasted heavyweight winner Adama Diop right after his match at the Meta APEX. White labeled the heavyweight bout as sloppy, horrible, and one of the worst fights he had ever witnessed in the history of the Contender Series.
The 31-year-old Senegalese fighter actually won his fight by securing a second-round knockout against Zaurbek Sabanov. However, the victory was not enough to save him from a brutal post-fight lecture. White heavily criticized Diop’s stand-up skills, stating that a regular UFC heavyweight would have easily knocked him out for trying to wrestle until the crowd started booing.
Despite his visible anger with how the performance looked, White still decided to hand Diop a contract. He told the fighter that his age made this his last real opportunity to make it to the big league. White then ended the tense moment by warning the new signee not to make him regret the decision.
