Former Bellator welterweight champion Rory MacDonald believes that sooner or later he'll clash for a third time with the man who beat him just a few months ago - Douglas Lima.

MacDonald (21-6-1) claimed the Bellator welterweight strap almost two years ago when he defeated Lima (32-7) at Bellator 192. This past October the pair met again and the Brazilian reclaimed his title following a UD win.

Soon after that, Bellator cut ties with the Canadian fighter and he signed a deal with PFL. But the fact they're not under the same banner is not discouraging "Red King" who isn't refusing a trilogy with his old foe.

"It is what it is, you know?” MacDonald told MMA Junkie. “Who’s to say we won’t meet up later down the road? We’re not in the same organization at the moment, but I still see myself fighting for a long time, and maybe he is too.

“You never know where our paths cross again. I don’t worry about it too much. Competition, he won one, I won one, c’est la vie. On to the next.”

MacDonald also spoke on his decision to join PFL after Bellator didn't sign him to a new deal.

"Bellator had the opportunity to, you know, not to have me as a free agent,” MacDonald added. “But I think just between this organization and wanting to take the risk on free agency, there was discussion, and obviously Bellator, they had their interest.

“But when the time came I was able to talk to other promotions, I wanted to play the field. I wanted to see what options were out there, and the best option out for me was PFL.”
