The second fight saw Mir enter as interim heavyweight champion while Lesnar carried the undisputed title and “The Next Big Thing” unified the belts in emphatic fashion by bludgeoning Mir with ground strikes in round two.

It was the first of two successful title defenses for Lesnar, who emerged as one of the biggest draws in UFC history during his time with the promotion.
