AMSTERDAM — Notorious heavyweight kickboxer Badr Hari has been arrested by Dutch authorities following a street incident. The 41-year-old athlete was taken into custody on Tuesday morning on Van Leijenberghlaan. Police officials confirmed that the arrest took place around 9:00 a.m. local time on suspicion of threatening behavior and insult.
While local law enforcement kept details vague and avoided publicly naming the suspect due to privacy laws, sources close to the investigation confirmed to De Telegraaf that the detained individual is indeed Hari. The exact identity of the person targeted by the alleged threats remains unconfirmed.
This latest arrest adds to a long history of violent offenses for the controversial fighter. In late 2025, Hari avoided jail time by accepting a plea deal with the Public Prosecution Service. He was sentenced to 24 hours of community service and issued a strict restraining order after being convicted of assaulting his ex-wife, Daphne Romani.
Hari's past legal troubles also include a high-profile two-year prison sentence for a brutal 2012 assault on a Dutch businessman at an arena dance festival. Professionally, the Moroccan-Dutch fighter is celebrated as one of the greatest kickboxers of his era. However, his career has heavily stalled after failing to secure a victory in his last eight professional bouts before unofficially retiring.
